What to pack when travelling to Stanthorpe?

Answer: Always pack a jacket.

Yes, always pack a jacket. Regardless of the season, what the BOM says, what your colleagues say, or even your best friend,  pack a jacket. Even in summer? Yes, even in summer pack a jacket. As we say, the weather ‘turns on a dime’ and a day that started warm and cosy can become quite cool or cold.

You see a lot of the Granite Belt is approximately 850m – 900m above sea level. Alure Stanthorpe is even higher at 950m above sea level. In contrast, our nearest capital city, Brisbane, is only 27m above sea level. All this High Country elevation leads to a cool, temperate climate around Stanthorpe. We are blessed to experience four definite seasons, sometimes in one day!

I’ve packed the jacket. What other clothes do I need?

Fantastic. When you’re packing your clothes, think about layers.

Spring – is quite changeable. It’s often a t-shirt and jeans, or capri pants type weather. However, as I type, it’s definitely a long sleeved top kind of day.

Summer – usually a balmy warm 28-degree maximum. However, it can get into the mid 30’s, so mostly pack dresses, t-shirts and shorts, and maybe capri pants.

Autumn -still often warm days, but you can really start to feel the crispness in the air. So, back to the t-shirt and jeans with some long sleeved tops.

Winter or Brass Monkey Season –  gets very cold. Think jeans with long sleeved tops, boots, gloves and scarves.

With all this fantastic elevation, nights are nearly always significantly cooler all year round than Brisbane and the coasts.

The great news is that your luxury villa or glamping tent accommodation is cosy in winter and cool in summer.

Your Stanthorpe accommodation has a range of DVD’s, CD’s and magazines, along with free wi-fi and Netflix. We’ve also created a love songs playlist for your enjoyment. If you have special books, movies, or board games you want to play, bring those along.

Do you like bird, nature or star watching? Maybe, bring some binoculars or a telescope.

The beautiful L’Occitane toiletries are used in the bathroom. Along with some amazing Washpool Soaperie massage oil. We provide a quality hairdryer and GHD hair straightener, so you can leave yours at home if you like.

Alure’s ‘Tastes of the Granite Belt’ continental breakfast basket is included with your milk and bread preferences. Our special ‘open pantry’ has basic kitchen supplies such as Mt Stirling olive oil and Lirah balsamic vinegar.

Essentially, bring anything special for your romantic getaway that will extend the enjoyment of your stay.

Otherwise, get ready to soak your cares away under the Milky Way in your private outdoor hot tub, or snuggle up by the fire with a glass or two of fabulous Granite Belt wine and enjoy time with your loved one.
